Building Houses and Latrines in Baja California Mexico

Early in the week of November 12, 2000, we received an urgent call from Baja Christian Ministries for prayer and possibly help. The family below, was scheduled to have their home built and for the third time the building project was being postponed. This postponement was due to the leader of the group that scheduled to build, breaking his leg and being unable to lead his group. Knowing that the family had already waited a very long time for their home, they were willing to donate the funds to build the home to another group so that there would be no further delays. With this news, members of the S.M.C.C. Team Casa was contacted and prayers said. We knew that if the Lord wanted us to be part of this home, He would provide an adequate team. By Thursday evening, we had the commitment of 6 experienced Team Casa builders and the decision to build was finalized. The trip was a success. We completed the house building in record time for a such a very small team. Although we were unable to paint or tape the drywall, all other construction efforts were completed by 4:00 P.M. Sunday. Everybody worked hard and we we rewarded with a special time of prayer with the family.
